Three bursary funds for graduates of Trails have been created through the generosity of family and friends of Wendy Anderson and Danielle Dion. The grants are available to all participates who require assistance for post-secondary education.
The Friends of Wendy Anderson Bursary
The Friends of Wendy Anderson Bursary is a fund that has been established to honour the memory of Wendy Anderson, who died in 1998 from brain cancer. Wendy had a zest for life and a love of children. The bursary was established to help participants of the Trails Youth Initiatives programme enhance their educational experience. Wendy would have been proud that her friends in her name have helped the children achieve their successes. The bursary is available for all participants of Trails Youth Initiatives. The individual is the one responsible for applying for the bursary. The Board of the Friends of Wendy Anderson Bursary will consider all applications that are properly submitted through the Trails Youth Initiatives office.
Danielle Dion Memorial Fund and Bursary
The Danielle Dion Memorial Fund and Bursary was established in April 2000 to honour the memory of Danielle Dion, who died from a malignant brain tumour.
Danielle was a mother and a teacher. She personified a joy of life, (joie de vivre), and had a very special love for children. She was totally dedicated to influencing children in a positive manner through her teaching. The fund and bursary have been established to help participants of the Trails Youth Initiatives programme achieve success through the continuation of their education, a goal that Danielle would feel proud to support. The bursary is available to all participants of Trails. Each individual is responsible for applying for the bursary. A committee of two or three individuals, mandated by the fund for the purposes of the bursary, will consider all applications properly submitted through the Trails Youth Initiatives office.
The G. Raymond Chang Bursaries
The G. Raymond Chang Bursaries will be awarded to graduates of the Trail's Progamme to assist them continue their education at a college or university of their choice. Applicants will have demonstrated strong academic and leadership skills and be committed to helping others in their communities when in a position to do so.
The Chang Bursaries will be administered on behalf of Trails by Sylvain Dion in conjunction with The Danielle Dion bursary programme.
